Melanie Paxson (* 26. September 1972 as Melanie Deanne Moore in Champaign , Illinois ) is an American actress .

biography

She was born outside of Champaign , in the village of Mahomet, Illinois . She is the middle daughter of Gay and Randy Moore. After graduating from Mahomet-Seymour High School in Mahomet, she left her hometown to study at the University of Missouri. Since then she has been a member of the Pi-Beta-Phi student union. She finished her studies in 1994 with a degree as a stage actress.

After graduating, Melanie Paxson took theater lessons at the Second City Training Center in Chicago before working for the Steppenwolf Theater Company in 1998 and 1999 . In this Tony Award- winning theater she starred in the plays The Hero of the Western World and Morning Star . At that time, however, she still performed under her real name Melanie Moore.

She had her first major film role in 2000 as Wendy in Ready to Rumble with David Arquette, Scott Caan, and Oliver Platt. Paxson has appeared in several television shows and series such as the Drew Carey Show , Rob Thomas ' Amor - Mitten ins Herz and Pyramid . She also starred in two episodes of Friends offshoot Joey , only one of which was broadcast. She starred in the NBC series Happy Family alongside John Larroquette and Christine Baranski . Paxson portrayed actress Joyce DeWitt in the television special for the series Jack of Hearts with two women Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Three's Company (2003), which was co-produced by DeWitt. She also starred on the ABC sitcom Pretty Pregnant .
