Meleșeni (1944-1989 Cyrillic Мелешень, Russian Мелешены / Melescheny) is a village and a municipality in the Rajon Călărași , Republic of Moldova , 46 km northwest of the capital Chișinău and 15 km north of the Rajon capital Călărași .

structure

The street village forms the municipality of Meleșeni. In the east is the municipality of Bravicea , in the west the municipality of Țibirica , in the south is the municipality of Frumoasa . Only the main road in the village is paved.

The Europastraße 583 (former M14 trunk road ) runs about two kilometers north of the village.

history

On a hill outside the village are the ruins of a city that was destroyed by a German invasion around 200 BC. Was burned down.

The village is mentioned for the first time in a document dated May 9, 1681.

In 1922 , as part of the land and land reform triggered by the Sfatul Țării , the village was equipped with two motorized mills.

From April 6 to August 20, 1944, Meleșeni was under artillery fire by the Russian Army. The majority of the population flees into the surrounding forests. The local church is completely destroyed. It was rebuilt between 1982 and 1990 and consecrated in 1990.

After the war, the village forms the kolkhoz on June 28th , in 1953 it is merged with the Dimitrov kolkhoz from Țibirica and converted into a sovkhoz in 1982 . The land was privatized again in 1999 as part of the Pamînt reprivatisation program .

Churches

  • Orthodox Church Înălțarea Domnului (built in 1891, rebuilt after the Second World War 1982–1990)
  • In 2008 a Pentecostal church opened in the village, which also had a children's home (Home of Hope). In February 2009, an employee reported attacks and hostility by the Orthodox priest. According to information from employees of the Baptist church in Bravicea , the church no longer exists.
