Map of Meneng

Meneng (also Menen / Meneñ ) is a district of the island state of Nauru . It is located in the south of the island. Meneng is 3.1 km² and has 1380 inhabitants. It is bordered by Yaren to the west, Buada to the northwest, and Anibare to the northeast. Meneng belongs to the Meneng constituency of the same name .

In the east of this district is the Menen Hotel , the more expensive of the two tourist accommodations on the island ( there is a youth hostel in Aiwo ). Anibare Bay begins immediately north of the hotel . Ibwenape , named after the former name of a piece of land there, is located in the Meneng area. The Alsatian priest Alois Kayser had a Catholic church built on Ibwenape. Today, however, it is Protestant as the Meneng Congregational Church and belongs to the Nauru Congregational Church , the largest church in Nauru.

The Nauru Detention Center is now located on the site of the former State House , the now demolished residence of the President .
