Anibare is a district in the east of the island state of Nauru .
The district borders on Meneng to the south, Buada , Nibok and Uaboe to the west, Baiti to the northwest and Anabar and Ijuw to the north . The entire coastline to the east consists of the beach of Anibare Bay . Anibare Harbor was built on the southern half of the beach in 2000 . In the west of Anibare is the collection point for the mined phosphate , which is transported from there by rail to Aiwo for shipping .
Anibare is part of the constituency of Anabar and has an area of 3.1 km² only 226 inhabitants. This means that Anibare has the lowest population density of all Naurus districts.
According to Paul Hambruch, Anibare means "many spirits"; The name may be due to the fact that in Nauruan mythology the entrance to the ghost island Buitani , which represents the underworld , is in Anibare.
Historic villages
Until 1968, today's Anibare district was a district consisting of 17 historic villages.
