Man, Pia! is a drama series starring Alexandra Maria Lara and filmed in 1996.

action

After the younger brother Bommel of the 16-year-old Pia Mangold died of a brain tumor, her parents withdraw more and more and hardly care about her. Her father Frederic, a concert pianist, only compares her (to her disadvantage) with her musically more talented brother. So Pia remains the housekeeper Rosa and her friend Noah as the only caregivers. When he then also plays with the idea of going to his father in South America, and Pia sees her father in a close hug with his agent Ariane Sommer, a world collapses for Pia. Your academic performance drops dramatically. After hearing about Pia's school problems, the parents decide to send her to boarding school. No resistance on the part of Pias or Rosas can dissuade the parents from their plan to send their daughter to Martinsrode boarding school, so that she may eventually become the “child prodigy” so longed for by her father. At boarding school, Pia meets different characters; she lives with Katja, who doesn't like Noah's goldfish Oscar, who Pia now has to take care of, and who has a relationship with a married man. There is also Niklas, the head of the theater group, and hobby DJ Andi. There are also some special personalities among the teachers:

  • Philosophy teacher Dr. Friedhelm Pflüger, called "Buddha", who spent a year in an Asian monastery and meditates in his free time.
  • Motorbike fan Diefenbach "Diefi", who sees Pia as a great acting talent.
  • House mother "Zitty", who asks Pia to take care of Katja.
  • School psychologist Dr. Forester, with whom Pia has to speak at the beginning.

After Pia made test recordings together with Niklas in the theater workshop, Niklas is convinced of her acting skills and would like to engage her as the main actress for his new play Wir Wohlstandskinder . Katja now has completely different problems. When she does not return to boarding school from a meeting with her boyfriend and Pia finally announces by phone that she is pregnant, she is expelled from boarding school. Pia also has some problems at home. She learns that Rosa went to her sister in Bavaria after moving to boarding school and that her parents are now sleeping in separate beds after her mother also caught Frederic with his agent. In addition, DJ Andi is increasingly causing problems as a drug victim. During the holidays, everything becomes too much for Pia when her father has moved in with Ariane and Noah suddenly appears again. Together with him, she hitchhikes to nanny Rosa in Bavaria. But on the way the two separate. Arrived in Rosenheim, Pia works with Rosa on the script for Niklas' play. After the holidays she learns that classmate Andi has died. She organizes a funeral service for him. Rehearsals for the play are then in full swing and although Pia's parents cannot come to the premiere due to an appointment with the divorce lawyer, the play is a great success and triumph for Pia.
