Mentor is a city in the north of the United States in the state of Ohio in Lake County .

It is located south of Lake Erie near Cleveland about 37 km from downtown. Mentor has 51,485 inhabitants (as of: 2005 census) on an area of ​​72.7 km².

Mentor has a National Historic Landmark , the James A. Garfield National Historic Site . From the porch of his Mentor home, James A.
