Mitchell Trubisky (* 20th August 1994 in Mentor , Ohio ) is an American American football poker players at the position of quarterback . He plays for the Chicago Bears in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected as the 2nd player in the 2017 NFL Draft .

Early years

Trubisky attended high school in Mentor , Ohio , and played for the school's football team from 2010 to 2013. He had 5,063 yards thrown for 50 touchdowns in the first two years . In his junior and senior years in 2012 and 2013, he had a total of 6,797 yards and 72 touchdowns.

college

From 2014 to 2016 Trubisky attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and played there for UNC Tar Heels in the Atlantic Coast Conference .

NFL

Trubisky was selected surprisingly early in the 2017 NFL Draft , in the 1st round as the 2nd player ever, by the Chicago Bears . The Bears traded picks for Trubisky in a controversial trade with the San Francisco 49ers . In order to be able to select in 2nd place, the Bears gave their picks in 3rd, 67th and 111th place for the NFL Draft 2017 and a pick of the 3rd round in the NFL Draft 2018 to the 49ers.

2017

Prior to the 2017 season , the Bears signed Mike Glennon as their starting quarterback . Trubisky was supposed to act as a backup in his rookie season. This decision was also controversially discussed in preparation for the season, also with a view to the commitment that the Bears brought in the NFL Draft for Trubisky and got new explosiveness with a good preseason debut and a catastrophic start for Glennon.

On the 5th day of the season Trubisky started for the first time in the NFL. At the end of the season there was a 4-8 balance with 12 starts, plus seven touchdown passes and seven interceptions . No Bears quarterback had reached more than his 248 yards since 2013 .

2018

After various changes in the coaching staff and in the team's offensive, which was now more and more tailored to Trubisky, there was initially a mixed start, before he managed an outstanding and record-breaking game in week 4 in the 48:10 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . 19 of 26 passes for 354 yards, six touchdowns (five of them in the first half of the game alone) and an almost perfect quarterback rating of 154.6 (the highest achievable value is 158.3) contributed to his being a FedEx Air Player of the Week was chosen. After another strong performance in week 10, he received the award for NFC Offensive Player of the Week . In week 16 of his victory over the San Francisco 49ers , he made 86.2% (25 of 29) of his passes to the man, the highest rate of a Bears quarterback since 1950 (with at least 20 passes thrown).

For the first time since 2010 , the Bears were able to win their division again and thus move into the play-offs . Despite good idea Trubiskys (with 26 attached passes for 303 yards extra space he set a new franchise record for post-season games on) they lost narrowly 16:15 because kicker Cody Parkey 10 seconds before closing the field goal -Try could not successfully transform. At the end of the season he was nominated for the Pro Bowl for the first time .
