Merel de Knegt

Merel de Knegt (born May 9, 1979 in Tilburg ) is a Dutch long-distance runner who specializes in road running.

In 2006 she was fifth at the CPC Loop Den Haag and came 47th at the World Road Running Championships in Debrecen over 20 km.

In 2007 she became national champion over 10 km and (as third overall in the CPC Loop) over the half marathon distance and came fifth in the Rotterdam half marathon . In 2009 she was 11th overall in the Tilburg Ladies Run 10 K, again Dutch 10 km champion, won the Rotterdam half marathon and was fifth in the Zevenheuvelenloop .

In 2010 she was third in the CPC Loop and tenth overall in the Rotterdam Marathon, also national champion over the 42.195 km distance.

Merel de Knegt is 1.70 m tall and weighs 55 kg. She lives in Loon op Zand and starts for the Tilburg Road Runners. Her older brother is the cyclist Gerben de Knegt .
