Michael Brook

Michael Brook (* 1952 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian musician , guitarist and record producer .

He is best known for his publications in the field of ambient and his participation in numerous film scores . His visually influenced musical style is characterized by a great willingness to experiment and rather unusual timbres.

Over time he has worked with a number of artists including Brian Eno , Daniel Lanois , Pakistani musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan , Sinéad O'Connor , The Edge , Jon Hassell , Pieter Nooten (formerly Clan of Xymox ), David Sylvian and many others.

Michael Brook developed the Infinite Guitar , which among other things makes it possible to lengthen the tone played on an electric guitar as required. In addition to his own copy, there are two more owned by Daniel Lanois and The Edge. The latter also used the Infinite Guitar with his band U2 ; For example, With or Without You (from the album The Joshua Tree , 1987) is a famous audio sample of Brook's idea of ​​an "infinite guitar".
