action
Vishnu works for his father in his hair oil business. But Vishnu dreams of more than taking over his father's business. The opportunity comes at just the right time when Vishnu is supposed to transfer an old Chevrolet truck, built in 1942, to a distant port town. The truck is to be exhibited in a museum. Inside the truck there is a cinema projector and old film rolls. The car was once used as a traveling cinema . Vishnu now sets off through the desert to the coast.
At a rest stop he meets a little boy who sells him tea and who also dreams of adventures far away from home. The boy joins Vishnu. When the car suddenly goes on strike, Vishnu cannot repair it. The boy goes looking for help. He finds it in the plump mechanic Om. Om wants to go to a fair and fix the car. In return, he asks to be taken. When the group of three is stopped by the police, the cinema projectors come to their aid. In the middle of the desert, the three show old Bollywood films for a fee . The films are now helping them on their way through the desert.
When the water runs out, a young widow helps them. The woman leads her to watering holes and Vishni falls in love. However, the girl comes from a different caste. There is only a future for the two of them in Vishni's cinema dreams. Vishnu finally has to part with the three new friends and reaches the coast. He's riding his motorcycle back to his hometown and is now ready to get back into his father's business.

criticism
The lexicon of international film describes the film as a "[classical] road movie in a meditative style that confronts the country and people in the most varied of shapes and forms in overwhelming shots". Due to the “film screenings that are shown again and again on the way”, “the film becomes a homage to the cinema”.
