Michael Eckert (theologian)

Michael Eckert (* 1951 in Münnerstadt ) is a German Roman Catholic fundamental theologian .

Life

He studied philosophy , theology and Romance studies in Würzburg and Regensburg . He had a doctoral scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation . After graduation in 1979, Doctor of Philosophy (with a study of Ernst Bloch ) and the Licentiate 1,981 of theology, he was from 1979 to 1989 research assistant at the University of Regensburg . After his habilitation in 1985 and the venia legendi for philosophical-theological border issues, he became a private lecturer in 1985 . He represented chairs in Tübingen in 1987, Regensburg 1987–1989, and Mainz 1993–1995 . He taught as visiting professor : 1987 Parma , 1988 Jerusalem and 1991 at the Buddhist Dongguk Universities in Seoul and Gyeongju , as well as at Sogang University . In 1991 he became an adjunct professor at the University of Regensburg. From 1995 until his retirement in 2019 he was Professor of Fundamental Theology at the University of Tübingen .

His main research areas are borderline questions between philosophy and theology, intercultural religious philosophy, negative theology and aesthetics.
