Michael Hohnstedt (born May 3, 1988 in Ostercappeln ) is a German soccer player .

Career

Hohnstedt grew up in Rahden in North Rhine-Westphalia in the East Westphalian district of Minden-Lübbecke and began his career in the youth of the local amateur club Union Varl . Through VfB Fabbenstedt and Preußen Espelkamp , two other local amateur clubs, he finally got into the youth department of Arminia Bielefeld . In 2007 he was transferred to the second team that played in the then fourth-class Oberliga Westfalen . With the little Armines he missed the qualification for the newly introduced Regionalliga West a year later and then played another year for this in the also newly introduced fifth-rate NRW league . In 2009 he switched to the Regionalliga Nord for VfB Lübeck . Here Hohnstedt was able to establish himself permanently as a regular player for the first time in two years with 67 league games. In the summer of 2011 he moved to the Regionalliga West for Sportfreunde Lotte . Two years later, Hohnstedt became champions of the Regionalliga West with Sportfreunde and thus took part in the promotion games to the 3rd division , but failed there with his team at RB Leipzig . He then left Sportfreunde Lotte and moved to the third division for VfL Osnabrück , who had previously signed Maik Walpurgis , who had already trained him in Lotte, as a coach. He made his professional debut at the start of the season on July 21, 2013, when he was on the starting line-up in the 3-0 away win at Chemnitzer FC .

On August 10, 2015, Hohnstedt provoked the opposing player Davie Selke during the first round cup game against RB Leipzig in the 71st minute of the game by running onto the pitch as a substitute. In the commotion that followed, referee Martin Petersen was hit by a lighter thrown from the VfL Osnabrück fan block, which led to the game being stopped and a 2-0 score for RB Leipzig on the green table.

Hohnstedt's expiring contract with VfL Osnabrück was not extended in 2017. For the 2017/18 season he returned to Sportfreunde Lotte, who now also played in the 3rd division. After a year and only nine season appearances, he left Lotte again and went to BSV Rehden in the Regionalliga Nord.
