Michael Körner (Commentator)
Michael grains (* 20th March 1968 in Hagen ) is a German basketball - commentator . He also commented on poker programs and was an expert on Stefan Raab's poker program on ProSieben.
Career
After graduating from high school , Körner began studying philosophy, politics and theater studies before he decided to take up journalism . At the age of 21 he reported for a local radio station on the games of the basketball Bundesliga club in Hagen . It was then that he first met Frank Buschmann , two years his senior , with whom he later worked at DSF .
His TV career began in early 1993 with the newly established TV station VOX , for which he commented on basketball , mainly the American professional league NBA . When the rights for the German reporting of the NBA changed hands in October 1993, Körner also went from VOX to Sat.1 , where he hosted the program "jump ran".
In 1995 he went to DSF / sport1 and had a permanent place in the moderators and commentators staff. As a result of the poker boom in Germany, Körner commented more and more often on the card game in addition to basketball and could be heard in the programs “Poker Exklusiv” or “High Stakes Poker”. He also comments on tennis on the pay-TV channel Sport1 +.
2001 Körner was voice as a commentator in basketball video game NBA Live 2001 from EA Sports to hear.
From 2006 to 2016, Körner commented on all 46 episodes of the big ProSieben PokerStars.de night , he took part as a player in the 25th edition and came fourth. In 2015 he was a commentator on the opening ceremony and the fencing competitions of the European Games .
Körner has been a moderator , commentator , columnist and podcaster for Magenta Sport , formerly Telekom Basketball , since 2014 . As part of this activity, he has been working with Alexander "Xandi" Dechant since 2015 in the "Basketball Department" podcast on various topics of German and international basketball events.
In the summer of 2019, Körner and Benni Zander reported for Magenta Sport from China about the German games of the 2019 Basketball World Cup .
Poker career
Time and again, Körner took part in poker tournaments as a player. For example at the UK Poker Open in October 2006, the most highly endowed poker tournament in the UK at the time. He had to admit defeat to Jonathon Kalmar in the preliminary round.
In July 2007, Michael Körner published The 10 Golden Rules of Poker , a non-fiction book for beginners. The idea for the book came about as part of the poker broadcasts organized by Stefan Raab on ProSieben .
