Michael Kolz

Michael Kolz (born August 29, 1970 in Hamburg ) is a German journalist and lobbyist . Since 2020 he has been responsible for government relations for Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the US telecommunications group AT&T .

Professional background

From 1991 Kolz studied politics and law as well as psychology at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . From 1994 he also began studying at the University of California, Santa Barbara , USA, which he completed in 1996 with a Master of Arts in Political Science. He resumed his studies in Kiel and completed it in November 1996 with a Magister Artium.

From 1998 he completed a trainee program at ZDF and Phoenix in Mainz , Düsseldorf and Cologne and since 1999 has been the presenter of Der Tag and reporter for on-site at Phoenix. He also moderated the political program Unter den Linden , initially together with Hartmann von der Tann , now alternating with Christoph Minhoff and Michael Hirz. Since 2003 Kolz has been head of the program management department at Phoenix, and in 2008 he took over the deputy head of the Talks editorial team . From 2010 to 2020 he was head of the event 2 editorial team and deputy program manager.

In June 2020, phoenix announced that Michael Kolz would leave the station at his own request at the end of July 2020 in order to take on a new position at the US communications group AT & T / WarnerMedia for Germany, Austria and Switzerland from August 2020. Since August 1, 2020, Kolz has been Executive Director and Head of External & Regulatory Affairs for Germany, Austria and Switzerland at AT&T.
