Michael Lederer (athlete)

Michael Lederer (born June 26, 1955 in Frankfurt-Höchst ) is a former German athlete .

His top sporting performance was the world record of 14: 38.8 min in the 4 x 1500 meter relay race on August 17, 1977 in Cologne (together with Harald Hudak , Karl Fleschen and Thomas Wessinghage ), which was not set until September 4, 2009 in Brussels by a Kenyan quartet ( William Biwott Tanui , Gideon Gathimba , Geoffrey Kipkoech Rono , Augustine Kiprono Choge ) was undercut by a good two and a half seconds (14: 36.23 min).

Michael Lederer started for the OSC Höchst (until 1975), ASC Darmstadt (1976-82) and again the OSC Hoechst. He is 1.79 m tall and weighed 59 kg at competition times. After the birth of his paraplegic son, he stepped up his voluntary activities at the Working Group for Paraplegics with Spina bifida / Rhein-Main-Nahe eV (ARQUE).
