Michael Lockhart

Michael Lee Lockhart (born September 30, 1960 in Lucas County , Ohio , † December 9, 1997 in Huntsville , Walker County , Texas ) was an American serial killer . He was sentenced to death in three states and executed in 1997 .

Events

Lockhart committed a variety of crimes in the states of Wyoming , Louisiana , Georgia , Ohio , Illinois , Missouri , Indiana , Texas, and Florida , including robbery, car theft, rape, bank robbery, burglary, assault, and theft. In March 1988, he was found in Beaumont, Texas, with a stolen vehicle. While attempting to arrest him, he overpowered and shot dead 30-year-old Police Officer Paul Hulsey. After a short escape, he was arrested as a passenger in a taxi. In August 1988, his attempt to escape from a courthouse failed.

On the basis of testimonies, confessions and DNA traces, he was also established in the October 1987 sex murder of 16-year-old Windy Gallagher in Lake County , Indiana, and the sex murder of 14-year-old Jennifer Colhouer in January 1988 in Pasco County , Florida . He had used a pretext to gain entry into their houses, tied up the girls, raped them, stabbed them and gutted them. He was also considered a suspect in the July 1987 murder of 16-year-old Kathy Hobbs in Nevada, but this crime was never charged.

In October 1988, he was sentenced to death for the murder of Paul Hulsey in Texas . He was sentenced to death in July 1989 for the murder of Windy Gallagher in Indiana and in December 1989 for the murder of Jennifer Colhouer in Florida. It was in December 1997 in the Texas Huntsville Unit with the lethal injection executed .
