Michael Novak (born July 25, 1988 in Zagreb , SFR Yugoslavia, today Croatia ) is a Croatian - Liechtenstein ice hockey player who has been under contract with PIKES EHC Oberthurgau in 1965 in the Swiss 1st division , the country's fourth-highest division , since 2017 .
Career
Michael Novak grew up in Liechtenstein and began his career as an ice hockey player in the junior division of the nearby VEU Feldkirch , for which he was active until 2006. The attacker then played for two years for the U20 juniors of the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers , for whose professional team he made two appearances in the National League A in the 2007/08 season . In the further course of the season he was also on the ice six times for HC Thurgau in the National League B. After he had spent the 2008/09 season in the NLB at HC Ajoie , EHC Basel and HC La Chaux-de-Fonds , he signed a contract in his Croatian homeland in summer 2009 with KHL Medveščak Zagreb , which was previously in Austria Hockey League the HC Innsbruck had replaced, who had to withdraw due to financial problems from the league. For the capital club, he prepared six goals in 38 games in the 2009/10 season .
The 2010/11 season spent Novak at his former club VEU Feldkirch in the second Austrian league, the National League . There he could not prevail, however, and only came to six missions. In the further course of the season he also played a few games for the Swiss clubs EHC Bülach from the third-class 1st division and the fourth division Dielsdorf-Niederhasli. From 2013 to 2016 he played again in Feldkirch. He has been on the ice for the PIKES EHC Oberthurgau 1965 since 2017 .
International
For Croatia , Novak took part in the junior division II of the U18 World Junior Championship in 2006 . In the men's division, he represented his colors in Division I at the 2008 and 2014 World Championships and in Division II at the 2013 World Cup , when the Croatians were promoted to Division I at the tournament in their home city of Zagreb.
