Michael Sheard

Michael Sheard (born June 18, 1938 in Aberdeen , Scotland , † August 31, 2005 on the Isle of Wight , England ) was a British actor .

Life

Michael Sheard was born in the Scottish city of Aberdeen, the son of clergyman Donald Marriot Perkins. The name Sheard was his mother's maiden name.

He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London , but did not finish his training, but instead joined the Royal Air Force .

After completing his military service, Sheard decided to return to acting. In the following years he played a lot of smaller roles in various television series and movies. The films he starred in were successful. His best-known engagements include the role of Admiral Ozzel in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and that of Adolf Hitler in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade .

In the course of his career, Michael Sheard worked with many well-known and renowned actors, such as Laurence Olivier , David Niven , Elliott Gould , Roger Moore , Stefanie Powers , John Wayne , Michael York , Jenny Agutter , Sean Connery or Harrison Ford .

On television he made several appearances in the science fiction series Doctor Who , where he played on the side of the first, third, fourth, fifth and seventh Doctor.

Michael Sheard died on 31 August 2005 on the Isle of Wight to cancer . He was married to Ros Sheard and has three children.
