Michael Sorrentino (born July 4, 1982 ), also known as The Situation , is an American television actor. He took on all the six seasons  MTV - reality show Jersey Shore part. The show was broadcast from December 2009 to the last episode in December 2012.

Career

Sorrentino has been part of the main cast of Jersey Shore since the series began in 2009. Since then, he has been a guest on numerous television shows including The Howard Stern Show , The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien , The Jay Leno Show , Lopez Tonight , SportsNation , Chelsea Lately , The Ellen DeGeneres Show and  Conan .

He also appeared in the eleventh season of Dancing with the Stars , but left in the fourth week. Sorrentino's partner was Karina Smirnoff. Sorrentino appeared with Bristol Palin in a 2010 advertisement for the  Candie's Foundation . The advertisement was part of the Pause Before You Play campaign and was designed to prevent teenage pregnancies. Sorrentino took on the role as one of the jury members in the talent show Random Talent from YOBI.tv. The show's name was later changed to New Stage , after co-star Mykell's theme song of the same name.

The revenue Sorrentino in 2010 were more than 5 million US dollars , which is the second highest income for a reality TV stars; only Kim Kardashian  earned better.

In March 2011, Sorrentino was part of Donald Trump's Comedy Central Roast . Later in August,  Abercrombie & Fitch contacted Sorrentino and asked him to stop wearing their clothes for a large amount of compensation. They argued that Sorrentino was ruining the brand's image. In November 2011, Sorrentino sued A&F after the brand sold shirts labeled "The Fitchuation" and "GTL ... You Know The Deal". On February 22, 2012, Sorrentino starred in a supporting role in  ABC's Suburgatory . In June 2012, he took part in Fox's dating show The Choice . On August 15, 2012, he became one of the roommates in Season 5 of  Celebrity Big Brother  on  Channel 5, and finished fourth in the show's finale on September 7, 2012. In October 2012, he took part in a PETA advertising campaign promoting the sterilization of pets. In 2014, Sorrentino appeared on a reality show broadcast on the TVGN Network. In 2015, he took part in the fifth season of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars with partner Lauren Pesce . In 2016, Sorrentino took part in the ninth season of Worst Cooks in America  . In April 2017 he appeared with his brothers Marc and Frank on We TV's Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition .

In 2018 it was confirmed that there would be a remake of Jersey Shore called  Jersey Shore: Family Vacation  . The show is slated to air on MTV and Sorrentino will be among the main cast.

Private life

Sorrentino graduated from Brookdale Community College. He also attended Kean University and Monmouth University. Sorrentino worked as an assistant manager in a gym in Staten Island . However, at 25 he was unemployed and started working as an underwear model. His older brother Marc works as his manager and partner at MPS Entertainment. He also has a younger sister named Melissa and an older brother named Frank.

On March 21, 2012, Sorrentino confirmed that he had been admitted to a rehabilitation clinic. The reason for this was because he  wanted to come to terms with his addiction to the prescription drug oxycodone . He left the Cirque Lodge Therapy Center in Utah on April 4, 2012. Lauren Pesce dated Sorrentino from 2004 to 2007. They later got back together and announced on April 26, 2018 that they were engaged. They married on November 1, 2018.

Legal problems

Sorrentino was arrested on June 17, 2014 for a brawl in a tanning salon in  Middletown Township , New Jersey  . In September 2014, he was charged with tax evasion. He allegedly failed to pay $ 8.9 million in taxes. S corporations , a company founded by Sorrentino and his older brother Marc, had paid for private expenses rather than reporting income. Further lawsuits were brought against Sorrentino and his brother Marc in April 2017. They were charged with laundering money in order to reduce taxes.

Sorrentino pleaded guilty to tax avoidance on January 19, 2018 . That decision was part of an agreement with the prosecutor for a lighter sentence. On October 5, 2018, Sorrentino was sentenced to 8 months imprisonment, 2 years probation and 500 community hours in the United States District Court of New Jersey in Newark . On October 22, Sorrentino's sentence was extended by United States District Judge Susan Wigenton to January 19, 2019, or as long as the prison authorities determine. The prison authorities decide on the location.
