Michael Tritscher (born November 6, 1965 in Schladming ) is a former Austrian ski racer .

biography

Tritscher attended the Schladming ski trade school , was trained as a businessman and is a state-certified ski instructor and ski guide. At the beginning of his career he tried, less successfully, in all disciplines. Only when he specialized in slalom did he achieve success. In March 1987 Tritscher reached 11th place in his first World Cup race , the Slalom of Sarajevo . His premiere in the "Top Ten" was 8th place on December 6th, 1988 at the slalom in Sestriere and a few days later (December 11th) he reached the podium for the first time (starting number 25) in Madonna di Campiglio with 3rd place. In the following years he celebrated three victories in the World Cup, a total of twelve times on the podium. In 1995 he finished second in the Slalom World Cup .

He celebrated the greatest success of his career at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville by winning the bronze medal in slalom.

In the summer of 1998 Tritscher had to end his career due to an injury.
