Michael William Hyle

Michael William Hyle (born October 13, 1901 in Baltimore , † December 26, 1967 ) was an American clergyman and bishop of Wilmington .

Life

Michael William Hyle was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Baltimore on March 12, 1927 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on July 3, 1958 Coadjutor Bishop of Wilmington and Titular Bishop of Christopolis . The Apostolic Delegate in the United States, Archbishop Amleto Giovanni Cicognani , ordained him episcopally on September 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Albert Meyer , Archbishop of Chicago , and Jerome Aloysius Daugherty Sebastian , Auxiliary Bishop in Baltimore.

When Bishop Edmond John Fitzmaurice resigned on March 1, 1960, he succeeded him the next day as Bishop of Wilmington.

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.
