Michael Zaslow

Michael Joel Zaslow (born November 1, 1944 in Inglewood , California , † December 6, 1998 in New York City , New York ) was an American film and stage actor and screenwriter .

Life

Zaslow is mainly known to fans of the Star Trek universe, as he embodied crewman Darnell, the first crew member of the Enterprise to be killed on an outside mission. Nor could Dr. Leonard McCoy was the first to use Trekkies' popular phrase "He's dead, Jim!"

The godfather of movie actor Christian Slater was on Broadway in several productions on stage. The best known are The Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Boccaccio . He also appeared in the 1980 musical Onward Victoria at the Martin Beck Theater , where he played Henry Ward Beecher .

Zaslow was married twice privately. He was briefly married to the film actress Joanne Dorian before he married the physiotherapist Susan Hufford in 1975 , with whom he remained married until his death. The two adopted two girls from Korea .

In 1997, Zaslow was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), from which he died a year later.

Zaslow was nominated four times for the Daytime Emmy between 1992 and 1995 . But only once - in 1994 - did he win the trophy for his role in Springfield Story . He was also nominated five times for the Soap Opera Digest Award for the same series , but won it only once in 1992 and posthumously in 1998.
