Mikhail Ivanovich Pugovkin

Mikhail Pugovkin ( Russian Михаил Иванович Пуговкин , real name Pugonkin (Пугонькин); * 13. July 1923 in Rameschki , Rajon Chukhloma ; † 25. July 2008 in Moscow ) was a Soviet / Russian actor award in 1988 People's Artist of the USSR received .

Live and act

Mikhail Pugovkin studied under Ivan Moskvin at the Theater School of the Chekhov Art Theater in Moscow . In World War II he fought as a volunteer in the Red Army and was seriously injured at the front. After his recovery he got his first role in a theater in Moscow in 1943 and played in the movie The Wedding after Anton Chekhov after the war . Until 1959 Pugowkin remained present on the theater stages with various productions in Moscow , Murmansk and Vilnius .

Pugowkin took part in more than 70 films. Especially his roles in the comedies of Leonid Gaidai such as Operation "Y" and other Shurik adventures (1965), Twelve Chairs (1971) and Ivan Vasilievich Changes Professions (1973) made him one of the most famous actors in the Soviet Union.

In 2001 he played his last role in a film adaptation of the fairy tale of the Bremen Town Musicians , after which he retired from the film business.

The asteroid (4516) Pugovkin , discovered in 1973, was named after him in 1997.

Private

Pugovkin lived in Yalta in Crimea for a long time before moving to Moscow in 1999. In 2005, a statue of Father Fyodor, whom he played in Twelve Chairs, imitated by the actor, was unveiled in Kharkiv . In total, Pugovkin was married three times and has a daughter named Elena from his first marriage.

On July 25, 2008, Pugovkin died of complications from diabetes in his home in Moscow . He was buried in the Wagankowoer cemetery .
