Michel Domsch

Michel E. Domsch (born May 27, 1941 in Dresden ) is a German economist . From 1979 to 2006 he was a full professor of business administration at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. He has distinguished himself in particular as a human resources and gender researcher and has published over 40 books.

Life

Michel Domsch was born in Dresden on May 27, 1941. 1961 he studied until 1968. Business Administration , Economics ( graduate economist in Kiel) and Law at the University of Kiel and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn and in 1968 at Walther Busse von Colbe with the thesis Simultaneous personnel and investment planning in the production area for Dr. rer. oec. PhD. From 1969 to 1971 he worked at Harvard Business School (USA). From 1972 to 1978 he worked at Deutsche BP AG , initially as a project manager, from 1975 as deputy branch manager and from 1977 as division manager.

Domsch completed his habilitation in business administration in 1974 - with a thesis supervised by Walther Busse von Colbe - at the Ruhr University in Bochum. In 1978 he took over a professorship for business administration and became chairman of the Institute for Human Resources and International Management at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. He received calls to Vienna , Bern , Hagen , Essen and Witten-Herdecke , which he refused. His research focuses on International Personnel Management, Employee survey , flexible working hours , technical and project tracks, audits and Gender & Diversity . He was also a professor at the University of Management and Communication (FH) in Potsdam.

Domsch has headed the FGH research group Hamburg since 1980 and advises commercial enterprises and public administrations. From 1997 to 2000 he was EU coordinator of the EU network Family & Work and the European WorkLifeAlliance BALANCE. He has also been a member of the European Commission's WIST expert group since 2005 . Since 1998 he has been a faculty member of the master’s programs in European Human Resource Management, which includes a network of seven European universities. From 2005 to 2008 he headed the ADC Academic Development Center at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. Since 2005 he has been chairman of the MDC Management Development Center Hamburg there. In 2013 he was in charge of the specialist career community. Together with Désirée Ladwig (professor at the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences ), he has been running the genderdaxCommunity, a network of large companies, medium-sized companies and research institutions, since 2005.

He is a member and a. in the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration , in the German Society for Personnel Management , in the Academy of Management, the Eastern Academy of Management and the European Academy of Management.
