Michele Sciurba [ mi'kɛ: le ʃurba ] (born April 27, 1968 in Palermo , Italy ; grew up in Oldenburg (Oldb)) is an Italian legal scholar, strategy advisor, human rights activist, journalist and author. He is an expert in international law , human rights , money laundering and combating terrorism , world trade law and public administration and lives in Frankfurt am Main .

Training and professional positions

After training as a machine fitter, Michele Sciurba studied philosophy and constitutional law at the Academy of Labor in Frankfurt am Main . Sciurba completed his LLM in International Business Law with Honors at the University of Liverpool and was named Student of the Year . He received his doctorate in international law (PhD) and then completed his state PhD (Candidate of Science) in public administrative law at the IAPM in Kiev. Sciurba is a member of the Ukrainian Bar Association and the German Press Association (DPV).

Since 1999, Sciurba has been the founding managing director of the Frankfurt-based strategy consulting company GMVV & Co. GmbH, within which a think tank with international, interdisciplinary networked scientists has developed that advises companies, non-governmental organizations and governments. Sciurba was a member of the European Industrial Relations Observatory (EIRO) and worked as a lecturer for industrial and company policy and as a board consultant for fundamental questions in the field of industrial policy at the DAG federal board.

In the course of his career he advised various government organizations on economic development issues; For example, in 2008 he took part in the High Level Conference on World Food Security of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome. In 2017 Sciurba was part of the delegation of the Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid in the German Bundestag sent to Ukraine .

In addition to a number of books, Michele Sciurba has published various scientific articles in the European Journal of Crime, Criminal Law and Criminal Justice and the Visegrad Journal on Human Rights. He is also a journalist for national and international media, including Journal Frankfurt and the Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Post , and a columnist for the international magazine Impakter, in which he publishes essays on legal and socio-political issues.

GMVV think tank

The think tank GMVV & Co. GmbH, based in Frankfurt am Main, which Michele Sciurba founded in 1999, conducts research in various scientific fields, including human rights, international law, European and world trade law, money laundering and counter-terrorism, financial market regulation, international relations, environmental and animal welfare, pharmacy and medicine. GMVV Research specializes in the analysis and development of strategies for complex and often highly politicized issues.
