biography

Laimer attended the Vinzentinum in Brixen and then completed a degree in law offered jointly by the Universities of Innsbruck and Padua , which he completed in 1989 with a diploma thesis on software license agreements in Italian. The lawyer who works in the regional service was elected to the state parliament for the first time in 1993 on the list of the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP) and thus also to the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol . In 1994 Laimer became a member of the state government and, in the Durnwalder II cabinet , the state councilor responsible for water and energy, and from 1996 also for the environment and regional planning.

In the state elections in 1998, 2003 and 2008, Laimer was able to win another mandate and continued to oversee the same departments in the Durnwalder III , Durnwalder IV and Durnwalder V cabinets as a state councilor. On June 5, 2012, he resigned as member of the state council due to the prosecution's indictments in the course of the SEL scandal, including suspected abuse of office. After the investigation had progressed, he renounced his state parliament and regional council mandate on November 5, 2012 and was replaced by Otto von Dellemann . In February 2013, Laimer was sentenced to two years and eight months imprisonment at the Bolzano Regional Court as part of a court settlement for fraud and distortion of competition. In November of the same year, two additional months were added in a further process; However, since Laimer did not exceed the threshold of three years imprisonment, he was able to compensate the sentence with a social service that replaces the sentence.
