Career

Mickaël Piétrus (2008)

Mickaël Piétrus left the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe at the age of 15 to participate in the junior program of Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez . He won the 2000 European Championship with the French national junior team.

Piétrus won with Élan Béarnais Pau-Orthez twice the French championship (2001 and 2003) and once the French cup (2002). In 103 games in the main round of the French Pro A league, he made an average of 8.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. In his last three years in France he played in the Pro A All-Star game .

He also played 27 games for Pau-Orthez in the ULEB Euroleague .

Piétrus was selected eleventh by the Golden State Warriors in the 2003 NBA Draft . In five seasons with the Californians (2003 to 2008) he scored an average of 8.4 points and 3.4 rebounds in the NBA main round. His best season was 2006/07 , in which he recorded 11.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and reached the Western Conference semi-finals with his team .

After a season with the Phoenix Suns , Piétrus should be given up by the Suns to the Toronto Raptors before the 2011/12 season . In return, the Suns would have received two selection rights for the 2012 draft. However, this move was reversed a day later due to a knee injury, and Phoenix terminated the contract with Piétrus. He then signed a new contract with the Boston Celtics . For the 2012/2013 season, he initially received no new contract and kept fit on his own. At the end of November, he finally signed a contract with the Toronto Raptors until 2013. He completed 19 season games for the Raptors, after which he found no more engagement with an NBA club.

Piétrus moved to Mets de Guaynabo in Puerto Rico in March . He was released two months later. In November 2015 he signed a contract with SLUC Nancy Basket and played there until the end of the 2015/16 season. Nancy was his last club in the professional field.

National team

In September 2005 he won the bronze medal with the French national team at the 2005 European Championships in Serbia . In six games he averaged 11.5 points and 6.0 rebounds.
