history
The village of Mierczany developed around the Hildesheim estate (Gut Hildesheim in der Neumark), which changed hands in 1775 for 7,250 thalers and in 1796 for 17,000 thalers. The official place name was until 1945 "Hildesheim b. Reppen", which was then in the Brandenburg district of Weststernberg (formerly Sternberg district (Brandenburg) ). The village of Hildesheim and its district town Reppen were in the eastern part of the Mark Brandenburg, the Neumark. During the times of the People's Republic of Poland , a state-owned agricultural enterprise "PGR" (GDR: VEG Volkseigenes Gut ) was set up in Mierczany . From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the Zielona Góra Voivodeship (Grünberg).
