Miguel Cinches
Miguel C. Cinches SVD (born February 7, 1932 in Dauis , Bohol , Philippines , † April 12, 2010 in Manila ) was a Filipino religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Surigao .
Life
Miguel Cinches joined the religious order of the Steyler Missionaries in 1956 and was ordained a priest on October 22, 1961 after his theological training . He taught at the "Christ the King Mission Seminary" (1961–1964) and at the religious seminary in Tagaytay City (1968–1973). After completing a doctorate in philosophy in 1968, he received his doctorate from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome; In 1968 he completed a postgraduate course in music (composition and conducting) at the Catholic University of America . In 1968 he was appointed rector of the Tagaytay City Seminary.
Pope Paul VI appointed Cinches Bishop of Surigao on January 10, 1973 . The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Carmine Rocco , Apostolic Nuncio in the Philippines on March 24 of that year; Co- consecrators were Federico G. Limon SVD, Archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan , and his predecessor Charles Van den Ouwelant MSC . He was president of the "Ecclesiastical Filippino in Urbe" in Rome and chairman of the "Catholic Education Association of the Philippines".
On April 21, 2001 , Pope John Paul II granted his resignation due to illness .
Miguel Cinches was a recognized composer of liturgical music.
