Mike Compos (born February 21, 1982 in Thunder Bay , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player ( striker ), who last played for EHC Red Bull Munich . Then still in Ireland with the Belfast Giants, where he was the star player.

Career

Compos began his career in the 1999/00 season with the Thunder Bay Flyers in the USHL , before playing for Miami University between 2000 and 2004 .

At the beginning of the 2004/05 season he was drawn to the Quad City Mallards in the United Hockey League , where he was very successful and in 2005 was named the best rookie of the UHL.

In the 2005/06 season he went for four different teams in the AHL and in the ECHL on the ice, namely for the Binghamton Senators , the Manchester Monarchs , the Hershey Bears in the AHL and the Reading Royals in the ECHL. He was then appointed to the ECHL All-Star Team at the 2006 American Conference.

In the 2006/07 season , Compos played for the first time in Europe, developed into a permanent fixture at EHC Munich and gained the most assists in the 2006/07 season. Compos appeared in Munich with the shirt number 17.

In both 2006/07 and 2007/08 , Compos was among the top 10 scorers in the league. In the 2008/09 season he was again one of the 10 best scorers and was also top scorer in the playoffs.

In the EHC's internal list of the best, after the season, with 179 games played, 59 goals and 160 assists, after only three years, he finished second behind Fabian von Schilcher .

In the summer of 2011, Mike Compos asked the EHC Munich surprisingly to terminate his still valid contract in order to work in his Canadian homeland as an assistant coach for a college team.

On November 26, 2011, the club announced on its homepage the return of Mike Compos to the Munich team as a replacement for Noah Clarke, who is expected to be out until the end of the 2011/2012 season. Compos received a contract until the end of the 2011/2012 season and put his plans as a college coach in favor of ice hockey again for the time being. The EHC Red Bull Munich extended his contract for another year, so that since then, with over 350 games, 118 goals and 240 assists, Compos has taken first place in the EHC's all-time best list.

In the 2014/15 season Mike Compos played for the Northern Irish team Belfast Giants .

Others

Compos has the nickname Fragolin from his early days in Europe. During this time, compos had serious problems settling in, and it was feared that he would want to go back home. Then he moved in with Jochen Vollmer and asked him all kinds of things in the years that followed. Since then he has been called Team-Intern Fragolin.
