Mikołaj Hieronim Sieniawski (German Nicolas Hieronimus Sieniawski * 1645 , † 15. December 1683 in Vienna ) was a Polish nobleman , officials in the civil service and Feldhetman the Polish crown from the noble Sieniawski .

Life

Mikołaj Hieronim came from the Polish aristocratic family of the Sieniawskis and was the son of Adam Hieronim Sieniawski († 1650) and Wiktoria Elżbieta Sieniawska († 1670), née Potocka .

As army commander he served under King John II Casimir and fought on the side of the king against rebellious Cossacks in Ukraine and against the Tatar peoples . He was also an opponent of the Lubomirski Confederation , which was proclaimed by Prince Jerzy Sebastian Lubomirski . He participated in military operations in Podolia and Moldova from 1673 to 1674 during the Ottoman-Polish War of 1672 to 1676 , where one proceeded against the Turkish invasion. In 1682 he received the title of field hetman from the Polish crown and two years earlier he was appointed voivod of Volhynia . After King Jan III. Sobieski won the election of a king, he took his side and fought with him, among other things, in the Battle of Podhajce in 1667 against the Crimean Tatars and Doroshenko Cossacks and in the Battle of Chocim in 1673 against the Ottomans . Towards the end of his life, he finally died in the Battle of Vienna in 1683, during which he died in the camp from an epidemic of epidemic prevailing there.

Sieniawski held various state offices in the Kingdom of Poland . Marriage and offspring

Mikołaj married Maria Cecilia Sieniawska, née Princess Radziwiłł , in 1662 , and had three children with her:

  • Adam Mikołaj Sieniawski (1666–1726), Polish civil servant and general;
  • Johanna Sieniawska (after 1662 – after 1712), married in 1695 to Stefan Potocki († 1726), Vojewode von Bels , Starost von Trembowla and Kaniów etc .;
  • Teofila Sieniawska (1677–1754), married in 1698 to Aleksander Jan Jabłonowski (1670–1723), holder of various offices in the Kingdom of Poland, including Starost;
