Mile Bogović (born August 7, 1939 in Cerovac near Slunj , Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Gospić-Senj .

Life

Mile Bogović attended the elementary school in Slunj, the classical high school in the seminary of Pazin . He completed his theological and philosophical studies in Pazin and Zagreb . For priests Mile Bogović was ordained on July 5, 1964, the Diocese of Rijeka . He obtained his doctorate in church history from 1966 to 1971 at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . After his return from Rome in 1971 he was a professor at the theological faculty in Rijeka . From 1970 to 1974 he was also secretary to Archbishop Viktor Burić . From 1974 to 1985 he was rector of the theological faculty in Rijeka. He was also the parish priest and dean of Praputnjak from 1981 to 1985 . In 1985 he was appointed Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Rijeka-Senj .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Tamata and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Rijeka-Senj on June 4, 1999 . The episcopal ordination received his Archbishop Anton Tamarut on 29 June of the same year in the Cathedral of Rijeka. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Krk , Valter Župan , and the Bishop of Poreč-Pula , Ivan Milovan .

With the territorial division of the diocese of Rijeka-Senj on July 25, 2000 by John Paul II, through which the suffragan diocese of Gospić-Senj was created, Mile Bogović was appointed its first bishop and was solemnly inaugurated on July 25 of the same year.

On April 4, 2016, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
