from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Miles Aldridge (* 1964 in London ) is a British photographer .

Life

Aldridge was born the son of designer Alan Aldridge and his wife Rita. He is the half-brother of models Lily and Ruby Aldridge. His parents were friends with famous artists such as John Lennon , Eric Clapton and Elton John , whom he therefore met at an early age. He was portrayed in childhood by the prominent photographer Lord Snowdon together with his father. When Aldridge was 12 years old, his father separated from the family and moved to Los Angeles . He himself stayed with his mother in London.

Miles Aldridge began studying illustration at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design to follow his father, who had designed covers for The Who and Elton John, for example . Aldridge soon changed this career plan, however, and initially spent three years making music videos . He came into contact with British Vogue through his girlfriend at the time and began working as a fashion photographer in the mid-1990s.

plant

Miles Aldridge photographed covers for fashion magazines, worked for various publications such as the New York Times Magazine and Harper's Bazaar, as well as for fashion designers, e. B. Karl Lagerfeld , Giorgio Armani and Yves Saint Laurent . He also worked as a commercial photographer for large companies such as Longchamp , Lavazza and Mercedes . In the weekly newspaper Die Zeit , his style was characterized as follows: He loves the garish and exaggerated and celebrates a “cult around artificiality”. Aldridge's works are held by the National Portrait Gallery , the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the International Center of Photography .
