Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz is the first mixtape by the American singer Miley Cyrus . It is also considered their fifth studio album. It was released for free on August 30, 2015 on the SoundCloud streaming platform and received average to positive reviews. Cyrus wrote and produced most of the songs on the album himself.

Cyrus announced shortly after the release of her fourth studio album, Bangerz , that she was working on a new album. At the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards , however, Cyrus said it could take up to five years for the album to appear. She announced the release of Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz on August 30, 2015 at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards , which she hosted. Previously, Cyrus performed with the song Dooo It! on.
Musical style
With the mixtape she also embarked on a new musical direction for her, which, like that of The Flaming Lips , with whom she worked on the project, has predominantly psychedelic influences. However, it can still be classified in the pop music category . Cyrus tried different styles of music, which she mixed together within the songs.
