The film is about Miley Stewart, who ponders her double life as Hannah Montana after she returns to her hometown of Crowley Corners and meets young former classmate Travis Brody there. She can no longer hide her double life since she fell in love with him. She unintentionally comes out to Travis and the friendship breaks up. During a concert at the village festival, she sees Travis in the audience and decides to reveal the truth about her double life in order to win Travis back. To sum up this difficult phase, Miley sings The Climb , which she wrote in her hometown.
Live performances
Cyrus often presented the song, especially after the film was released. In 2009 she was a guest at the presidential celebration for the then new President Barack Obama . She has also appeared in several late-night shows such as James Corden and the Good Morning America Show.
Music video
The music video for the song was produced by Matthew Rolston and released on February 11, 2011. The video is mainly set on a large meadow with a long path, which is supposed to represent the path of life that Cyrus is walking up. Mountains can be seen next to the path, symbolizing the difficult time. In terms of color, the video begins very dark and ends very brightly with light colors. Especially the lines with the positive developments are shown in light colors. Frequently scenes from the film appear in the video. Towards the end of the song, Cyrus stands on the mountain and looks into the brightly colored sun. To date, the video has been viewed 386 million times on YouTube (as of June 2020).
