society

Kokotović began his active football career in 1929 at the Zagreb sports club HŠK Građanski Zagreb . With this club he won the Yugoslav Championship in the 1936/37 , 1939/40 seasons and the Yugoslav Cup in the 1940 season . He was also part of the team that won the Yugoslav double for the first time in the club's history . He also played for HŠK Građanski during World War II . After the German invasion of Yugoslavia in 1941 and the associated establishment of the Independent State of Croatia , Kokotović began to play with his club in the provisional Croatian leagues such as the League of the Banschaft Croatia , Croatian Oberliga or Croatian State League .

After the end of the war, Croatia became one of six republics (Socialist Republic of Croatia) of the newly founded Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia . After these political developments, Yugoslav football had to be reformed. After the 1st Yugoslav football league was to resume regular play with clubs in 1946, Kokotović's club Građanski Zagreb was renamed Dinamo Zagreb . Under the new name, Kokotović's team won the Yugoslav championship in the 1947/48 season. After this championship he ended his career.

National team

Kokotović made his international debut for the Yugoslav national team in a friendly against the Turkish national team on October 2, 1931 . For this national team he completed 23 international matches by 1939 and scored four goals. In the game of June 7, 1933 against Bulgarian selection Kokotović managed a hat trick .

After the war-related dismemberment of Yugoslavia and the founding of Croatia, Kokotović began playing for the newly founded Croatian national team in 1940 . In the first game of this selection, which was played on April 21, 1940 against the Swiss national team , he was part of the starting line-up and wore the captain's armband in this game. By 1944 he played four more games for Croatia. In a total of 15 games, he wore the captain's armband eight times.

After the end of the world war and the reorganization of the Yugoslav national team, Kokotović was no longer considered for the selection.
