politics

DVU

Mokry, who smeared a memorial with swastikas at the age of 17 , was advertised as a member by the DVU and entered the state parliament there in the state elections in Saxony-Anhalt in 1998 . In protest against the fact that in 1998, with Rudi Wiechmann as the eldest and Mokry as the youngest member of the state parliament, according to the rules of procedure, the presidium of the constituent state parliament session was mostly made up of DVU people, the second and third youngest MPs (from the SPD and PDS ) waived the third presidium seat. Despite the DVU's demand to combat nepotism, Mokry employed his mother as a clerk in the constituency office, as Saxony-Anhalt had accidentally removed the usual ban on employing relatives as members of parliament in 1994 in its parliamentary law. When shortly after the state elections in 1998, Martin Sonneborn from the satirical magazine Titanic posed on the phone to Mokry and some of his parliamentary colleagues as the office manager of DVU boss Gerhard Frey and, alluding to Mussolini's march on Rome, called for the march on Berlin under the motto “ Work makes Frey ” , said Mokry and wanted to take care of the Aryan proof requested in Frey's name . He admitted that his name didn't sound particularly German. Mokry assessed his creative leeway as an elected member of parliament as follows: “Each of us gets [...] a clerk [...], a secretary from Munich. He knows about everything ”(the DVU headquarters was there).

FDVP

When the 16-member DVU parliamentary group split up in the state parliament at the beginning of 2000, Mokry sided with the dissenters operating under the name of FDVP . At the end of 2001, six months before the 2002 state elections, he also turned his back on the FDVP parliamentary group and remained non-attached until he left parliament.

AfD

In September 2014, Mokry joined the Alternative for Germany (AfD) in the Saxony-Anhalt state association. In May 2015, Mokry left the AfD in order to avert damage from the party, according to his own statements. Mokry's admission had previously also been criticized from within the ranks of the AfD and led to an application for impeachment proceedings by the Harz district association against the AfD state chairman André Poggenburg . Poggenburg remained in office and in autumn 2015 Mokry was a supporting member of the AfD.

Activity in the railway industry

In addition to his seat in Parliament to Mokry 2001 made the company A.VG Mirko Mokry eK (from 2007 Ascherslebener traffic mbH AVG ) independently and leads the company full time since retiring from the parliament. In 2007 he and other railroad friends founded the association Nebenbahn Staßfurt - Egeln e. V., the u. a. organized a museum-based passenger transport with historical rail vehicles such as the " piglet taxi " on the Staßfurt-Egeln branch line. He was initially deputy chairman there and has been the first chairman since 2014.
