Miroslav Tanjga ( Serbian : Mиpocлaв Taњгa; born July 22, 1964 in Vinkovci ) is a former Serbian football player .

Player career

Tanjga began his playing career in the senior sector in 1984 in his hometown at Dinamo Vinkovci , which at that time played in the highest Yugoslav league, the Prva Liga . In 1987 Dinamo was relegated to the second division. After the recovery failed, Tanjga moved to FK Vojvodina . With Novi Sad , the defender became Yugoslav champions in his first season.

In 1991 Tanjga went to the record champions FK Red Star Belgrade . Since the Red Star had won the European Cup in the previous season, the club was in the final of the UEFA Super Cup in 1991 . At Old Trafford , Tanjga and Belgrade had to admit defeat to host Manchester United 0: 1, and in the league Red Star managed the championship hat-trick. Tanjga could not play in the regular eleven, so he moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul after a season in Turkey . But Tanjga had problems there too, whereupon he left Istanbul for Germany after a few months .

There he signed a contract with the second division Hertha BSC . He immediately became a fixture there, but failed to get promoted with Hertha in 1993 . After the Berliners had only occupied eleventh place in each of the following two seasons and in the 1995/96 season had only secured relegation on the last match day due to the better goal difference, Tanjga agreed with the club on an early termination of the contract.

So Tanjga moved to league competitor 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the summer of 1996 . With the Mainz team he just missed promotion in the 1996/97 season as fourth in the table. In the following two years he could no longer build on this performance with the FSV. Miroslav Tanjga played his last league game in 1999, but his contract only expired in 2001.

Scout career

After his playing career, Tajnga was responsible for the Balkans together with Vjekoslav Škrinjar in the scouting department of Mainz 05 .
