Manfred Mühlmann (born December 26, 1931 in Leipzig ; † June 4, 2014 ibid) was a German legal scholar and politician of the GDR block party NDPD .

Life

Mühlmann, son of a worker, attended high school and passed the Abitur . In 1946 he joined the FDJ and in 1950 the National Democratic Party of Germany (NDPD). In 1950 he worked as a transport worker, began studying law at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig , graduating in 1954 with a law degree . From 1954 he worked as a research assistant and university professor at Karl Marx University. In 1961 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur. In 1966 he qualified as a Dr. sc. Initially lecturer, he was appointed full professor for social, civil and civil procedural law in 1968 and was deputy director of the law section at Karl Marx University from 1969 to 1975. From 1965 to 1971 he was chairman of the NDPD district association in Leipzig. From 1967 to 1990 he was a member of the main committee and from 1971 to 1982 a member of the NDPD district committee in Leipzig . From 1982 to 1990 Mühlmann was also a member of the presidium of the NDPD main committee. On January 12, 1970, he was co-opted into the National Council of the National Front of the GDR and its Presidium and elected Vice President in place of the late Vice President Otto Rühle .

From 1976 to March 1990 Mühlmann was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR. From 1976 to 1986 he was a member and from 1986 first deputy chairman of the Constitutional and Legal Committee of the People's Chamber. On November 17, 1989 he was elected deputy chairman of the State Council of the GDR (successor to Heinrich Homann ). He held this office until the Council of State was dissolved by the People's Chamber in April 1990. In January 1990 he was appointed chairman of the committee of the People's Chamber of the GDR to amend and supplement the constitution and on May 30, 1990 he was appointed to the newly formed government committee to further dissolve the MfS / AfNS .
