The Moby Aki is a ferry of the Italian ferry line Moby Lines .
history
The Moby Aki was on 7 April 2004 in Ancona at Fincantieri to put Kiel . On May 12, 2005, it was handed over to the owner company. The ship has been in service between Livorno and Olbia since May 2005 .
In September 2019, the shipping companies DFDS Seaways and Moby Lines concluded an agreement according to which DFDS Seaways would take over the Moby Aki and its sister ship Moby Wonder and operate as Amsterdam Seaways and Newcastle Seaways on the Amsterdam - Newcastle route from 2020 . This failed because Moby Lines could not hand over both ships to DFDS in accordance with the contract.
Sister ships
The Moby Aki is the third ship in a series of four high-speed ferries that were built at the Italian shipyard Fincantieri in Ancona and at Daewoo in Okpo . Two of these ships, the Moby Wonder and the Moby Aki , stand out due to the shipping company-typical paintwork with motifs from Warner Bros. comics ( Looney Tunes ). The theme of the exterior painting is also reflected in the interior. The last sister ship, the former Moby Freedom , has meanwhile been sold to Eckerö Line .
Equipment and capacity
The ship can carry 700 vehicles and 2,080 passengers and is used on the Livorno - Olbia (Sardinia) route. During the day, the ferry takes about six hours to travel this route. Even for the relatively short distance, 320 cabins with service, as well as junior suites for up to four people, an à la carte restaurant, solarium and swimming pool are offered. There is a three-story panorama deck on the front structure below the bridge.
