Mokko is a rural community in the Dosso department in Niger .

geography

Mokko is located in the greater Sudan landscape . The neighboring communities are Loga in the north, Falwel in the northeast, Tombokoirey I in the southeast, Goroubankassam in the south, Dosso in the southwest, Garankédey in the west and Sokorbé in the northwest. The municipality is divided into 39 administrative villages, 37 traditional villages, a hamlet and 25 camps. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village of Mokko.

history

The rural community of Mokko emerged from part of the canton of Dosso in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform.

population

At the 2001 census, Mokko had 37,062 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, the population was 52,132.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located in a zone where rain-fed agriculture is practiced. Mokko has an important market for grain, pulses and cattle, which are traded to Maradi , among other places . The market day is Thursday. Mokko is located on national road 14 , which connects the town with the neighboring cities of Dosso and Loga.
