Farey (also: Farrey ) is a rural community in the Dosso department in Niger .

geography

Farey is located in the greater Sudan landscape . The neighboring communities are Goroubankassam in the north, Tessa in the northeast, Dioundiou in the southeast, Yélou in the south and Gollé in the west. The municipality is divided into 40 administrative villages, 19 traditional villages and three hamlets. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village of Farey (also: Farrey).

Farey is at high risk of flooding.

history

The rural community of Farey emerged from part of the canton of Dosso in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform.

population

At the 2001 census, Farey had 26,507 residents. At the 2012 census, the population was 40,302.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located in a zone where rain-fed agriculture is practiced. There are 28 primary schools and 15 literacy centers in Farey. There are three health centers ( French : centers de santé intégre ) and five health stations (French: cases de santé ) available in the health sector . There is a cattle market in the village of Bélla. The market day is Thursday. Farey is located on the national road 2 leading to Koré Maïroua and on the national road 7 , which connects the place with the regional capital Dosso and the state border with Benin near Gaya .
