Tombokoirey I (also: Tombo Koarey I ) is a rural community in the Dosso department in Niger .

geography

Tombokoirey I is located in the greater Sudan landscape . The neighboring communities are Falwel in the north, Tombokoirey II in the east, Karguibangou in the southeast, Goroubankassam in the southwest and Mokko in the west. The municipality is divided into 21 administrative villages, 44 traditional villages, five hamlets and 14 camps. The main town of the rural municipality is Tombokoirey, consisting of the administrative villages of Tombo Kouarey Souley and Tombo Kouarey Yérima. The main town of the neighboring community Tombokoirey II, however, is the administrative village of Sakadamna.

A western branch of the periodically water-bearing dry valley Dallol Foga runs through the municipality in a north-south direction . Tombokoirey I is at high risk of flooding.

history

The rural community of Tombokoirey I was created in 2002 as part of a state-wide administrative reform from parts of the cantons of Dosso and Falwel.

At the 2001 census, Tombokoirey I had 22,714 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, the population was 29,024.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located in a zone where rain-fed agriculture is practiced.
