Karguibangou (also: Kargui Bangou ) is a rural community in the Dosso department in Niger .

geography

Karguibangou is located in the greater Sudan landscape . The neighboring communities are Goroubankassam in the northwest, Tombokoirey I and Tombokoirey II in the north, Guéchémé in the northeast, Karakara in the east, Zabori in the southeast, Dioundiou in the south and Tessa in the west. The municipality is divided into 64 administrative villages, 21 traditional villages, two hamlets and 23 camps. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village of Karguibangou (also: Kargui Bangou, Deytégui Hassane).

A side valley of the periodically water-bearing dry valley Dallol Foga runs through the municipality . There is a high risk of flooding in Karguibangou.

history

The rural community of Karguibangou emerged from part of the Dosso canton in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform. In June 2008, floods destroyed 14 houses and 79 huts in the community, and almost 1,000 residents were considered damaged.

population

At the 2001 census, Karguibangou had 35,677 residents. At the 2012 census, the population was 45,304. The population consists of Zarma , Hausa and Fulbe .

Economy and Infrastructure

The population lives mainly from agriculture. Cultivated millet , sorghum , cowpea , Bambara groundnuts and fonio and green lettuce and cabbage. Agriculture is affected by soil erosion . In Karguibangou there are 32 elementary schools and one middle school as well as an important market for cross-border trade. The market day is Wednesday. Karguibangou is on National Road 1 , which is part of the international Dakar-N'Djamena Highway , and on National Road 3 , which leads to Koré Maïroua .
