Mokwyn (Ukrainian Моквин ; Russian Моквин / Mokwin , Polish Mokwin ) is a village in the western Ukrainian Oblast Rivne with about 2,400 inhabitants. It is located on the Slutsch River , about 7 kilometers southeast of the Rajons capital Beresne and 54 kilometers northeast of the Oblast capital Rivne .

The village of Nowyj Mokwyn (Новий Моквин), which is located south of the village, also belongs to the district council of the same name .

history

The place was founded in 1564 and was part of the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania in the Voivodeship of Volhynia until 1795 . Then it came to the newly founded Volhynia Governorate as part of the Russian Empire . After the end of the First World War the place became a part of the Second Polish Republic ( Voivodeship Volhynia , Powiat Kostopol, Gmina Bereźne), after the outbreak of the Second World War the area was occupied by the Soviet Union and from 1941 by Germany , in 1945 it finally came to Soviet Union and was incorporated into the Ukrainian SSR . In 1962 the name was changed to Perschotrawnewoje / Perschotrawnewe (Першотравневое / Першотравневе) based on May Day (Ukrainian Перше Травня / Perschotrawnja = first of May) the place was renamed again, in 1991 it finally came to the newly formed Ukraine.
