Molochnoje ( Russian Моло́чное ) is a village (selo) in Vologda Oblast with 7535 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The village is located on the left bank of the right Suchona tributary Vologda , about 15 km northwest of the center of the Oblast capital Vologda .
It belongs to the urban district of Vologda and exists as enclave within the territory of the Rajons Vologda .
history
Molochnoye was established in 1948 as an urban-type settlement at the Vologda Dairy Institute founded in 1911 in connection with its expansion. The place name was therefore derived from the Russian word moloko for 'milk'. As a result, further teaching and research facilities were created. In 2004 the place was downgraded to a village as part of an administrative reform.

Research and education
The Vologda State Dairy Academy, which emerged from the previous institute, is located in Molochnoye, as well as an associated teaching and experimental dairy, the Northwest Russian Research Institute of Dairy and Pasture Industry, a center of the State Agrochemical Service, a retraining and further education center of the agro-industrial complex and other facilities.
Infrastructure
To the east of the village runs the regional road R5, which leads from Vologda to the northwest of the oblast, in the direction of Kirillow and Wytegra , as well as to Pudosh and Medweschjegorsk in the Republic of Karelia . There is a bus connection with Vologda.
Four kilometers south of the village of Bowykino is the Molochnaja train station on the St. Petersburg - Vologda line (kilometer 583).
