The Moosalb is a ten kilometer long river in the northern Black Forest that flows into the Alb from the left and west at Fischweier .

The Moosalb rises from the Hüttlesbrunnen southeast of the mountain hamlet Moosbronn from Gaggenau at about 479  m above sea level. Landscape and protected areas

In terms of its natural surroundings, the Alb valley is part of the northern Black Forest edge plates.

After the small Herrenalber village of Althof and the adjoining Gaggenau hamlet of Moosbronn, which are located on the uppermost course, the valley of the Moosalb is uninhabited except for a few old mills and farms, and it flows in it largely naturally through valley meadows lined with sloping forests. On your right side the small river is accompanied almost along its entire length by a little-traveled district road, on your left by a hiking trail.

The valley floor and partly the lower slopes of the Alb valley and its small tributaries form the nature reserve Alb valley and side valleys , in which there are numerous moist meadows and spring zones. Around this lies the Albtalplatten and Herrenalber Berge nature reserve , which, apart from the settlements on the edge heights, includes almost the entire rest of the catchment area.
