history

Local museum

Völkersbach was first mentioned in a document in 1254 , when the brothers Kuno Wolftrigulo, Berthold and Krafto von Owensheim, fiefdoms of the Eberstein , sold the village of Völkersbach to the Frauenalb monastery . In the course of the secularization and dissolution of the monastery in 1803, Völkersbach gained independence. The Rimmelsbacher Hof belonging to Völkersbach is mentioned for the first time in 1115 ( Rümlinsbach vicus ).

religion

The Catholic parish church of St. Georg is in Völkersbach . The church building is located at St. Georg Str. 2, a side street off Albtalstrasse.

The church has one of the 13th century originated steeple . The current nave was built in 1834/35.

Reorganization

As of January 1, 1973, the place belongs to Malsch, after the Völkersbacher Municipal Council had spoken out in 1972 against a merger with the neighboring communities Schöllbronn , Spessart and Schluttenbach to form the planned community Schönreuth . This rejection and also the affiliation with the Malsch community were highly controversial among the people of Völkersbach.
