history

Schöllbronn was first mentioned in a document in 1254 as "Villa Scheltebrunnen" and is one of the oldest settlements on the left Alb plateau.

In 1435 the village charter was granted.

Schöllbronn only became completely Baden in 1457 after the old feudal lords had sold their property to the margraviate of Baden for 2,700 guilders . After the division of the margraviate in 1535, the people of Schöllbronn had to change their denomination eight times within 100 years .

The Thirty Years' War did not stop at Schöllbronn either, and during the War of the Polish Succession there were isolated battles on the Ettlinger lines (still visible today between Schöllbronn and Spessart).

After the Second World War , Schöllbronn was occupied by French troops.

The place was designated as a resort in 1970, but an official appointment as a climatic health resort was never sought. Today, however, tourism no longer plays a particularly important role. Schöllbronn has well-developed hiking trails, shelters and a barbecue area.

Schöllbronn has been a district of the large district town of Ettlingen since October 1, 1974 , after a merger with the neighboring communities of Spessart , Schluttenbach (both now also districts of Ettlingen) and Völkersbach (now part of the municipality of Malsch ) during the regional reform in Baden-Württemberg . to the community of Schönreuth had failed. The people of Schöllbronn attach great importance to the fact that this is not an incorporation , but a voluntary amalgamation (unlike the village of Spessart).
