Moosmühle is a district of the Upper Swabian market of Erkheim in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria . It is located about three kilometers north of the main town and is connected to Erkheim via the road connection of the district road MN 32 in connection with the district road MN 13 .

The eastern Günz runs west of the hamlet . The water from a mill channel diverted about 200 meters south of the village used to drive the mill and is now used by a hydroelectric power station .

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1390. In this document the transfer of the Kempter fief from Walther von Königsegg to Benz Huit was regulated. The place remained in the possession of Jörg Mangolt until 1469 and in the same year it passed to the Gäb and Zwicker families. Eustach von Landfried became new owner in 1590. The Buxheim Charterhouse also had goods in the village. The landlord of the Moosmühle Georg Strobel acquired the Hesssawwirtschaft in Erkheim in 1847. Due to financial problems, he later emigrated to America .

A spa in the area of the hamlet was first mentioned in 1632. At that time it was on the so-called Wölfle estate. However, due to the construction of a new bath in the nearby Dankelsried , the spa in Moosmühle recorded a sharp drop in visitors. The city of Memmingen, as the builder of the bath in Dankelsried, was thereupon obliged by the Reich Chamber of Commerce to pay damages to the Ottobeuren monastery , the owner of the Moosmühler Heilbad. Almost the same healing power was ascribed to the Moosmühl healing water as the Dankelsried healing water.
